Set on a hilltop overlooking Tallahassee, the Mission San Luis de Apalachee is 60-acre (25-hectare) working archaeological site and interpretive museum.

The excavated area of the former seventeenth-century mission shows evidence of a Spanish fort, church and houses as well as Apalachee tribal dwellings. The site also includes reconstructed Spanish and Apalachee houses.

Guided tours take place on weekdays at noon.

The Museum of Florida History on South Bronough Street contains a permanent collection that includes treasure from a Spanish galleon, prehistoric Florida display, Civil War memorabilia and a reconstructed steamboat.

The Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science at Kleman Plaza, South Duval Street is a family-focused interactive science center that also features top national traveling art and science exhibitions.
